QuickLOAD is a well-known interior ballistics simulation program developed by the German engineer and ballistics specialist Hartmut Brömel. It was designed to provide reloaders, ammunition developers, and technical enthusiasts with a more detailed view of the firing sequence—from ignition to projectile exit—through computational modeling rather than reliance on static load charts. By simulating the internal ballistic process mathematically, the software enables users to examine how individual components influence overall performance.

The program calculates key outputs such as peak chamber pressure, muzzle velocity, and powder combustion behavior based on user-entered variables. These include case capacity, propellant selection and charge weight, projectile mass and geometry, seating depth, and barrel length. Adjusting these parameters allows users to evaluate how small changes may alter pressure curves and velocity before conducting live testing. This analytical flexibility made QuickLOAD especially valuable to experienced reloaders exploring non-standard configurations or refining loads for specific firearms.

A major factor in its popularity has been its extensive database of cartridges, bullets, and powders, which supports comparative analysis and “what-if” scenarios. Although it does not replace pressure-tested published data, it helps identify patterns, relationships, and potential safety margins.

With development now discontinued, QuickLOAD remains a legacy desktop application. Despite this, it continues to be referenced due to its methodological approach and Hartmut Brömel’s influential contribution to modern interior ballistics modeling.
